WATER PURIFIER CARE

How Often Should You Change RO Purifier Filters in Karnataka?

Water Quality & Filtration Guide • 4 Min Read

Water quality varies significantly across Karnataka. While Cauvery water in parts of Bengaluru and Mysuru has moderate TDS levels (150-300 PPM), borewell groundwater in industrial hubs and coastal districts often exceeds 800-1500 PPM.

1. Pre-Filter Spun Candle (Every 3 to 6 Months)

The outer pre-filter housing traps mud, rust, and coarse suspended particles. In high-mud borewell areas, replace the 5-micron spun polypropylene candle every 3-4 months to shield internal pumps and membranes.

2. Activated Carbon & Sediment Cartridges (Every 8 to 12 Months)

Pre-carbon blocks absorb chlorine, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and foul odors, while inline sediment filters remove micro-particles. Replace both cartridges annually to prevent membrane bio-fouling.

3. Reverse Osmosis (RO) Membrane (Every 18 to 24 Months)

The 0.0001-micron TFC RO membrane rejects dissolved salts, heavy metals, and arsenic. If your water flow slows down or purified water tastes metallic, membrane scaling has occurred and requires replacement.
